GoldHawk
I want to refinish my black strat! But what i want to do is quite unusual i want to take the paint off and just not repaint it leave it with its natural wood colour and carve a Scorpion on it is this possible? and how do I do it? Cheers!
westhemann
i did the same thing with a schecter.(not a scorpian though) strip all the finish off, carvw your scorpion, put some ebony stain in the carving so it will show up better, sand any excess stain off from around the carving, then tung oil the crap out of it.i used clear spray paint instead of tung oil but it sounds like you want it to feel like wood.tung oil will do that well.just apply it with a brush or a cloth every 5 minutes until the body stops soaking it up ,wipe off the excess, let it dry for a couple of days(it says 24 hours but 2 days is better)then just rub it down with a dry cloth and presto! natural wood finish but resistant to moisture. GoldHawk
Thx Mate! I hope this Works or My Parents will kill me! oh yeah one more question! Will this change the sound of the guitar?
westhemann
i believe it changes the sound by making it more resonant and bringing out the tone of the wood but the effect is subtle.many people would argue with me about that though.it will not change it for the worse though.
