Hehe. That's for sure. I use metal picks and there's fine metal dust on the pickguard after I play for an hour. Plastic coated strings, I don't know, I tend to think strings don't sound so good after being coated with dirt, and plastic can't be much, if any, more "toneful" than dirt.
