Daniel Sorbera Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 (edited) On my latest guitar I'm using the stewmac long shaft pots (because it's a carved top and regular pots are not long enough to stick through) but I'm having trouble finding a rotary that would have a long enough shaft (the portion with the threads) so I could mount it the in the guitar. Basicly my setup would be something like PRS. Any idea how they do it? Edited June 8, 2006 by Godin SD Quote
mikhailgtrski Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 PRS schematic If you can't find a switch with a longer shaft, can you drill a recess for it from the cavity side? Quote
Daniel Sorbera Posted June 8, 2006 Author Report Posted June 8, 2006 (edited) I know how to wire up a switch, I just can't seem to find one that would work on a carved top. I'll have to do some measuring, but I may be able to drill a recess so a shorter pot will work. Edited June 8, 2006 by Godin SD Quote
mikhailgtrski Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 On my Warmoth, they routed the cavity partially into the maple cap. The bottom of the cavity isn't flat - it parallels the top carve. If drilling isn't an option, you might check mouser.com for a different rotary switch. Quote
Mattia Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 For the record: I've never, ever used a long-shaft pot, and I practically only build carved top guitars. The red PRS-ish one with the recessed knobs uses regular pots. Quote
