Rubis915
I've got a new LP.... and rewired it using the diagram on guitarelectronics.com the problem is my tone pots don't act as as a tone control it also act as a volume control.... then I rewired it using guitarnuts wiring for vintage LPs... the same problem occur? I just dont get it.... I've rewired a lot of LPs.. but this one is one of a kind... Do my pickups have a problem? I'm using a DIMARZIO 80's PAF with two stranded condustor (white and black) and 1 solid conductor wire. Please help guys!!!
Primal
Definately not a problem with the pickups. My advice, without actually being able to see inside the control cavity, is to just disconnect EVERYTHING and start from scratch.
thegarehanman
Did you forget to put capacitors on the tone pots by any chance?
Rubis915
Did you forget to put capacitors on the tone pots by any chance? no.. i didn't... actually right now... i'm into trouble shooting it... i've removed the capacitor from bridge position... just the capacitor. to hear the difference between the neck pickups which still has a capacitor.... ANd.... wala!!!! the same thing... the neck tone pot and the bridge tone pot act as a volume control. (volume position: 10) http://www.guitarnuts.com/wiring/stockgibson.php Sir Primal, I've checked the reading of the Dimarzio pickups... no reading (no resistance) but working.... Miracle? thanks!!! Primal
If you try reading the impedance of the pickups, make sure your meter is set to the correct range. Mine has settings for up to 20, 200, 2k, 20k, etc. For pickups, you'd need the 20k setting or thereabouts. Your pickups would have absolutely no effect on whether or not a pot works as a tone or volume. Try SD's wiring diagram: http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/schem...h_2v_2t_3w.html
