Ben Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 Took me less than 2 hours to make it completely! I havent bought a breadboard yet, so I basically just made it and crossed my fingers... seems God likes me today since it works and sounds good Its basically a copy of a EH muff fuzz. It has silicon diodes instead of germanium (because germanium are too hard to find) which is meant to make the sound harsher, but I like the sound I got. It only just fits inside that enclosure. The 9V was a squeeze, but it fit in there. I'll replace the DPDT toggle switch with a footswitch later. -I could record some sound clips if anyone is interested? Quote
GregP Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 OF course we're interested in clips. Congrats, maygn. Quote
Ben Posted July 26, 2006 Author Report Posted July 26, 2006 Thanks, You'll have to wait till tomorrow for clips I'm afraid, its ten-to-eleven here, and we live in a terraced house, so I cant play it through the amp without disturbing the neighbors I tried recording it direct into the sound card (because I can do that at low volume), which was....interesting The sound card adds an extra stage of distortion, and it sounded awful. So bad it was pretty funny even with some fiddling, it still sounded pretty crap, so it'll have to wait until tomorrow I think. Quote
Ben Posted July 26, 2006 Author Report Posted July 26, 2006 -Oh and BTW, what does "maygn" mean? Quote
Samba Pa Ti Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 nice pedal, which silicon transistors did you use ? and what diodes did you use ? going off this http://www.freeinfosociety.com/electronics...view.php?id=513 i found all the parts on banzai Transistors http://www.banzaieffects.com/2N5088-pr-16529.html http://www.banzaieffects.com/2N5089-pr-16530.html Diodes http://www.banzaieffects.com/1N914-pr-16443.html http://www.banzaieffects.com/1N4148-pr-16451.html Quote
Ben Posted July 27, 2006 Author Report Posted July 27, 2006 I made the op-amp version, since at the electronics shop I went to they didnt have the transistors (and apparantly no substitutes either). Heres the schematic for the one I made http://www.montagar.com/~PATJ/mufffuzz.gif And even with that schematic I had to substitute the op-amp. I think I'l just order online in future. I'l have to open it up to check what diodes I used. Quote
Ben Posted July 27, 2006 Author Report Posted July 27, 2006 The diodes are 1n4001 Heres the interior Still working on those sound clips Quote

Ben Posted July 29, 2006 Author Report Posted July 29, 2006 I just thought I'd post to say sorry for not getting those sound clips Seems it was not meant to be; -First tried with my sound card, which distorted it insanely and made it sound ridiculous -I got some decent clips on my MP3 player (it can record audio)... then discovered I'd lost the cable I need to connect it to the pc. -I now have everything I need to record... exept any guitar cables! My brother borrowed them without asking and left them at my mums I leave for a 3 week holiday tomorrow, so I dont think I'll be able to get those clips At least not for 3 weeks anyway Quote
Jozer99 Posted November 11, 2006 Report Posted November 11, 2006 Weird question: What kind of knob is that? It looks awesome, I've never seen a chrome/black tophat knob like that before. Quote
