indieinked
Just wondering what some of you guys would recommend as far as an amp... My guitar's a Fender Standard Telecaster and the Line 6 amp I have now just isnt cutting it (really bad popping noises and volume problems...not sure whats wrong with it...) (The amp I have now is a Spider II 75watt)
Daniel Sorbera
So you want a new amp? Can't go wrong with marshall IMO.

I'm also not sure whether to go with a tube or solid state amp...but Marshall was one of the ones I was looking at...
Daniel Sorbera
Well what kind of music do you play? We can't sugest an amp without knowing what it's being used for.
Mickguard
Keep in mind that watts don't mean much when you're talking about a tube amp...once you get past 10 watts, they're all really loud...depends on how much clean headroom you need. The more watts, the more clean volume you'll get (because it takes more power to overdrive all those tubes).
spazzyone
i just posted on this http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.php?showtopic=24928 and i mentioned my 2x12 i love and hate this amp line 6 has many of unhappy customers on there lower end products i guess im lucky as i have no problems yet but i also swapped my stock speakers to a pair EV 12's ala Zakk and it opened up this amp bigtime i would not buy another as it is Crap get a Marshall or Peavey if you only need one or two sounds ive heard great things about the line 6 Vetta. but at $800 retail i think not. at that price im in tube territory and love my used marshall jcm 800 that was $550 0n ebay and just around the corner at that..... no shipping twice lucky on amps. now if i can convert that into used cars i could get some mileage for my money!!!!!!!!! indieinked
I play basically anything from old rock to punk rock... looking at a marshall 50watt that seems to be good due to it's ratings on musiciansfriend.com spazzyone- the only problem I have with mine is a popping noise while playing which lowers the volume every so often. I have a feeling it's the speakers...since everything else on it works fine and the sound is clear as ever with headphones plugged in. Also, I have a line 6 POD so effects built into another amp wouldnt really be needed.
crafty
Try a new instrument cable. I bet yours is simply damaged and has a short somewhere in it.
indieinked
Try a new instrument cable. I bet yours is simply damaged and has a short somewhere in it. Actually I have, several of them. After a bit of researching I found that others who had the same amp have had this problem...so that has to be it.

GodBlessTexas
What do you plan on using it for? Just playing at home? 10 watts is probably overkill, at least on a tube amp. If you're thinking of playing out, then you need something a little more powerful. I like my Mesa 2:50 stereo tub power amp a great deal. It's the updated version of the 50/50. I've seen both go on ebay for $400 or so. The 50/50 is a more balanced tonal output (Think Mesa mkIV) than the 2:50, which was voiced to handle a rectefier sound. The Mesa 20/20 is nice too, if you're looking for a lower power amp, but it's still plenty loud. GBT
