low end fuzz
what do you think of shellac for a finish? i love the 'close to wood' look but it reflects like laquer (polished) i know some use it as a sealer then coat overtop; but i like to stay the same ingredients right thru. i know its a 'soft' finish, but is it any softer than tung-oil? prs man
check out info on french polish and how to ues it. you can mix your own french polish [shellac and alcohal] this is a hand rub finish that when enough coats are built up is vary nice finish. the thing I liked about this kind of finish is its drying time almost as you put it on it is dry. you can control the amount of finish and you will not get any runs in your finish. one thing keep in mimd is before the spray gun a lot of guitar finishes where hand rub finished. good luck Edited August 16, 2006 by prs man
Vince D
Shellac would look nice on a guitar finish. It is harder then tung oil but not that soft relative to laquer, and other hard film finishes. If you were to put shellac I'd apply it as a french polish. You can get a look nicer look with it, but it takes a lot longer to do. And if you dont want it to reflect then all you have to do is wipe on some wax over it and it will dull it out Vincent
