i'm building a guitar from scratch. i want my freind to paint some of my guitar idols on the swamp ash top. Any ideaas to what steps to take and what finish(es) and paint to utilize to preserve the images?

Artists acrylic paint over a white primed surface then clear acrylic lacquer over the top to protect.

And pore-fill the body before you seal and paint it, It'll be a nice, flatter surface, better for hand painting.
