Southpa
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fen...mp;src=3SOSWXXA I might pay that (if I had the dough) for an original but not a relic. Mickguard
I was looking at one of these (Baja Tele) in a store yesterday--it's 'designed by' the Fender Custom Shop. Sort of like those cheap 'Duncan-designed' pickups some companies put on import guitars... I was pretty surprised at how poorly things were fitted --especially at the neck. You could see a clear gap of about a millimeter on the bass side of the neck. Pretty shoddy work for that price --they had a Fender USA there too, twice the price, but at least the neck fit snugly in its pocket. erikbojerik
Fender's way to capitalize off the vintage mania. "Man...I'm jonesing for a '62 but I don't have $50,000." "Oh look...there's one that looks the same for one-tenth the price!"
Prostheta
I've seen worse build errors on vintage Fenders due to the low cost of production on 50s-60s models. Tele string ferrules off by 2mm-3mm!! At least modern production Fender "relics" will play better than most vintages....
