whats the best material for a pickguard

im planning to make one for my interchangable brian may loaded pickguard

plywood ? acrylic ? what ?

i cant use a normal one because the 5 way switch is made redundant by the brian may lots of switches style

so what material ?

i was thinking of using plywood as its readily avaliable to me

You can buy big sheets of pickguard material from Warmoth and plenty of other suppliers, I don't think you can cut it with a normal saw though without it melting, just a heads up. Oh, and pearloid catches and burns VERY fast, I had a pick made of pearloid once and I threw it at a candle and it literally just burst into flames. Cool, eh?

I've made them from stainless steel, the polishing part can take a while. But I prefer 1-side scratch resistant "Acrulite" plexi, 1/8" thick. I cut it with a fine toothed jeweler's saw and bevel the edges with files, then sand and polish.
