erikbojerik
Go onto eBay, purchase a copy of Jason Lollar's book (search on "pickup winder"), then sell it back when you've made your winder and tested it all out. This is pretty much what I'm doing, except I'll be using this Grizzly mini lathe instead of a sewing machine motor. http://www.grizzly.com/products/g8690
SwedishLuthier
Go here: http://music-electronics-forum.com/ and check out the pickup winders forum. It has also got a coil winders sub-forum. You find a lot of information there, even thou some of the pro winders (and there are a few there, among others Jason Lollar himself. You will alsi find both erik and me there form time to time. There is also a really interesting discussion about using a power drill winder on MIMF right now. Check out Steven Kersting at www.skguitar.com/ for some hints about what makes a pickup sound the way it does
