Jon
I talked with my dad about this and he mentioned he's cut up some wood before. So we roughed up 2 sides with the chainsaw and then I split the above left piece into 2 billets. 21 1/4" x 5 1/2" x 3" on the left piece, the right one isn't cut to size yet. Going up to the lumber yard tomorrow to hopefully get some end grain sealer and some more fingerboard wood! Oh, and these pieces are Soft Maple, with some cool spalt figure going on. Click to enlarge! Fun stuff, can't wait to cut the other piece up. It's a lot bigger.
Jon
And here are those 2 pieces split up into 4 seperate pieces. I'm only looking to get 1/4" bookmatched tops out of each since rotting wood doesn't have the most pleasent tone, and they all measure to 1"+ in thickness. So hopefully they don't rot / crack too much.
