Do most kinds of rubber exert a magnetic field of any sort?

Common sense.

Not exactly what i meant. I should have been more specific- Depending on the thickness of the rubber, couldn't the pressure exerted upon the pickup and any mounts from the rubber cause them to become damaged over time?

I shouldn't think so. As long as you have them mounted well, it should be fine.

.....As for finishes, how about topping it in rubber instead. You could raise or lower the pickups from the back. Then when your pups were up, the rubber would stretch over them and you'd have some stretchy lumps. Now I've certainly never seen that before :D

ooooh, I like the sound of that....kinky but I like it :D
