Masina
How do you get really good joints for two piece bodies and such? do you use a router? power jointer? jointer plane? just wondering because there must be a better way than what I'm doing. biliousfrog
Depends on what you have. A nice sharp plane works wonders if you're patient & confident with it but some woods can tear such as figured maple & sapele. A jointer takes some of the sweat out of it but the principle is the same. A router could be used with a jig as could a belt sander. The important thing is to keep things square. There have been a lot of posts about jointing, try the search facility....how are you doing it currently?
Daniel Sorbera
I usually use a big power jointer at a local shop, but for acoustic wood I use a hand plane. There are many different tools/ways to get a good joint.
Masina
how are you doing it currently? At the minute I'm using a beltsander with a piece of angle iron, but the results aren't brilliant.
