What Wire?

im a complete beginner at wiring guitars and i was wondering what type and gauge wire

i should be using and where i can get it

You've actually got a lot of freedom here. Some people even use telephone wire.

You should check out your local electronics/hobby store and see what they have, as it'll probably be cheaper than buying it online.

For guitar insides, just use whatever's on hand or whatever's cheap. Certain kinds of wire (push-back wire) are easier to use because they don't have to be stripped, but anything will work.

I generally use whatever I cut off the ends of the pickup wires if they are new. Saves alot of searching around "I know I had that wire somewhere..." Just cut some off and use it.
