gibsonsg26 Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 hi guys i just wanted to know if anyone could answer this for me. my 1990s rr suddenly started humming extremely loud i figured it was a grounding problem and found the ground on the output jack came loose i fixed that and it plays now but when i touch the strings they hum i thought that was from the string ground but that looks fine on it are there any other things it could be? Thanks in advance Quote
grungehead Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 maybe some wires have oxidized? if it buzzes when you touch the strings then you have a grounding issue with the bridge or the trmolo claw (or whaever your using) i would replace all of the wires if i were you. guitarelectronics.com has every wiring schemes you could possibly think of. scroll down on the left side of the page to ;wiring diagrams'. gibsonsg26 Posted June 22, 2007 Author Report Posted June 22, 2007 thanks the wires did look pretty messed up right when i touched the output jack with the broken ground wire the hot snapped off so ill try that. Quote
Geo Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 If you get buzz when you touch the strings, you must have the hot and ground wires reversed. Normally you should have less buzz when you touch the strings. Quote
