Jayh
Ok, I finally finished my first project, 4 string bass made out of wenge/maple with a neckthru design. - MM style pickup, passive (1xvol, 1xtone), hipshot bridge, basic tuners with brass washers, wooden knobs - Maple-Wenge-Maple laminated neck, ebony fingerboard with sidemarks only, maple-wenge wings. - Wenge veneer between wing laminations Everything was made from scratch, minus the fingerboard, that was preslotted. Back Bridge Headstock - front headstock - back

jmrentis
Oh wow, what a beautiful piece! Awesome job, looks like a delicious Oreo bass Got Bass? Seriously though, what an amazing looking guitar. I think it looks great, not over done and not plain, just excellent. Wood choices are great as well. Truly a nice guitar and something I would look to as inspiration upon building myself a bass, suits my taste exactly. Nice stuff. J
low end fuzz
what an evil looking bass; it looks damn fun ; how is the pickup location; i set a musicman pu in a bass i did, and put it in the middle; cause thats where the poles perfectly lined up; and when its got good height its in the way of playing, and when i put it out of the way its too far away; ah well good stuff (like an oreo )
G-Axe
That's a really nice piece of instrument - great shape, great use of woods and a natural look - I dig the wooden knobs and covers. How's it play?
Jayh
How's it play? Its not bad at all I have to tweak the pickup height a bit and maybe rethink the strings (la bella super steps) as I had DR strings on it before the danish oil finish, those DR strings sounded great but these super steps sound more aggressive with the MM style pickup. But yeah im really happy with it, sustain is great, neck feels good (even if its a bit bulky, Warwick style). I might have to use steel wool or something for the back of the neck to make it a bit faster/natural.. danish oil makes it feel similar to laquered neck (that i dont like). Thanks for all the nice comments everyone low end fuzz: Yeah as you can see, I have a bit of work to do with the height as well, MM pu on its own seems to be a bit sensitive to changes, strings seem to make a huge difference (at least in my case) and the step wound strings add another twist to the mix.. setup is totally different as its only the core that goes over the bridge.
