darren orr
Fourth project, first bass. Spalted maple front and back. Mahogany core. Maple/mahogany neck through. Massara fretboard. Handwound humbucker and precision pickups. Started this bass 6 months ago, but due to ligament damage in finger I havent worked on it for months. Still needs a bit of shaping and a whole lot of sanding More photos HERE
Geo
That looks amazing! Kudos on making pickup(s). It's very rewarding.
darren orr
Cheers, was really making pups because I can't afford to buy what I want. Makings cheaper. I cut the bobbins on the cnc at work, and the the wooden pup covers, so the exposed pole pieces all line up right. Straight off the cnc. (except the black inlay.......) Geo
One day, when I get rich I wont have to make stuff. Until then...... I don't know, I like making pickups! You have so much freedom to design exactly what you want. Did you do a similar-looking 6-string a while ago?
