bluesy
I have sprayed my headstock black with enamel paint, and faded it into the neck (which is just sealed). Can I just apply polyurethane over the top of everything? I'm just not sure about the compatibility of the two.
killemall8
polyurathane can be sprayed over 99 percent of finishes. i only say 99 percent because im sure there might be something that it wont work over, but i havnt found anything. ive used it over everything i can find, works fine. Sami Ghouri
i don't wanna hijack the thread but i am finishing a guitar with enamel paint too and i'm thinking of polyu as well. I have sanded the paint smooth with 320 grit now and it seems very flat and ready for clear coating. Should i sand with finer grits first???? thanks and sorry for going off topic
zeppelinchld
i think 320 good enough but its always better to go to finer grits. i have used polyurethane over enamel with success except for i had i small problems when i buffed it but i think its cuz i didnt let it sit long enough. but anyways i think using poly over enamel is okay but i don't think it would work w/ enamel over the urethane
