stratpaulguy60 Posted December 9, 2003 Report Share Posted December 9, 2003 Hello everyone...I've been spending some time both with e mails and via the phone talking with Brian..I've been someone that spends alot of spare time on the FDP,The Les Paul Forum,and the Seymour Duncan forums offering everything I can, related to guitar setup,vintage tube amp tweaks,mods,pickup replacement and mods,pedal mods,and whatever I can answer w/out blowing any smoke... I've been a guitar player for close to 30 years with a Classic Rock/Blues style in the realm of guys like Hendrix,Page,Clapton,Beck,Santana...You get the idea.. I also have some "How To" info posts that were made for others regarding pickup replacement and making the task easier on others..It seems this website is loaded with alot of talent and knowledge and I'd sure like to help where I can and benefit from all of you...It's for myself and because of Brian that I just have to chime in on the site and have another place to look forward to frequenting...Anyway...Meantime I'm going to peruse around the site some more.. Thanks guys for posting back to me...My FDP name is Stratdeluxer....On the Les Paul forums it's the same screen name as it is on this site...I haven't jumped in on any discussions,as I'm still just kind of feeling my way around the site.. Currently my favorite Duncan humbucker is something called the "Hybrid" that a group of us have been using on the Duncan Forums..It consists of mating a 59B or PGB screw bobbin (Around 4k)with the slug sided bobbin from the Custom,C5 or CC(7K)...You end up with a pickup that has tons of sustain,is tight and articulate,crunchy,strong lows,warm,sweet,and smooth...Kind of a polite crunch! The split tones are right at 7k(The custom coil)and is a great single coil tone..The pickup uses an A2 magnet or you can substitute an A5 magnet for more highend,very tight lows,and a more hi fi like tone..This is my favorite pickup right now...I also use the Dimarzio Fred quite a bit and I Like the Duncan 59 and the PG and PG+ pickups..I'm always tweaking..
