DaveK
This string has officially been raised from the dead! I got the JB junior-single coil by the following method: 1- I removed the "pickup cover" off the JB jr. 2- I VERY carefully sanded the edges of the pickup to remove some of the mass. BE FOREWARNED!!!! I ruined 3 pickups by sanding to low and cutting into the copper windings 3- I took a single coil pickup cover and sanded out as much of the inside I could to remove the mass 4-I then put the cover in boiling water for about 3-5 minutes. This allowed the plastic to expand and soften 5- I then forced the cover over the J.B. jr and let it cool down 6 I cut 6 "polepieces" from a hot glue gun glue stick 7 I painted the polepieces with a mixture of brown stain and metal paint and then put them in each of the polepiece hole openings 8-DONE!!! PLEASE be careful! Like I said earlier, I ruined 3 pickups doing these steps...I would hate to be responsable for you ruining your pickups it's funny this string has been brought back to life...I am actually doing the final set up and wiring next weekend! Any interest in the final pix being posted? Dave K
darren wilson
I think it's funny that it was resurrected by our new moderator, and he didn't even comment about your HUGE photos on the first page!

american_jesus
question for you, how did you get the checking in the finish? it looks like something that actually happened naturally, rather than reliced. and maybe it's just me, but if you want the look of a 62, you need to dull down the paint a little bit. still very bright and shiny(at least in those pictures). truerussian558
There have been a lot of questions regarding the checking & how I got it The key is that the nitro clear coat has to be thin...I then freeze it with air conditioner recharge solution It's funny as hell & my favorite part if relicing...the whole body frosts up & you can actually hear the finish cracking! he explains it earlier... read people, read! and he answered litch's question earlier too. litchfield
Hey dave, thanks for fixing the pics. Also, when you get all done maybe you could add anything you left out and we can make a tutorial out of this.
