boundsteelblues Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 Should I be concerned about the wormhole comment in a description on e-bay for a black limba board that I would use for a neck? You can't tell anything from the picture. "Nice piece of wood with great figure, color and grain. Kiln dried, surfaced, flat, and solid Has a waxy feel to it. Has a few wormholes. Finishes well. Good for furniture, boxes, calls, musical instruments, turnings, bowls, guitars. Quartersawn" Quote
Rick500 Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 I've bought quite a bit of stuff from him. Never disappointed. Just about all black limba is going to have some wormholes. You can usually fill them with no trouble at all. Quote
boundsteelblues Posted October 1, 2008 Author Report Posted October 1, 2008 Can you share your process for filling them in? Quote
Rick500 Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 You can do it a number of ways... sawdust and glue; tinted epoxy; take a sliver of similar colored wood, sharpen it in a pencil sharpener, put some glue on the tip and push it into the hole. Quote
guitar2005 Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 For a body blank, I wouldn't worry about the holes too much. For a neck, I'd get a nice, worm free piece. Quote

I am just very picky about neck wood. Rich Quote
