jlarremore Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 I have a guitar finished in poly I want to put a new design on. I'm going to scuff the existing finish and then spray with poly when I'm done. 1. What rattle cans of paint will work with poly? 2. When I clear coat with poly, do I still need to polish and buff? 3. How do I polish and buff poly? Jef Quote
wood is good Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Most spray can paint will work with poly. Just dont use lacquer. Yes you need to buff and polish. You polish and buff it the same way you would any other finish. Quote
ihocky2 Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 I would recommend looking at Alsa Corp and the Killer Cans line. It is 2 part auto poly in a spray can (same type as is on the guitar already). It is more expensive, but it does hold up much better, and you don't have to worry about it adding a yellow tint like a lot of spray can stuff does. Quote
