Reinhold Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 My father always wanted to learn bass and I think I'm going to get him one, but don't want to spend a fortune and still want a high quality instrument. Do you think I should go with a Warmoth build or a Carvin kit? I would probably just buy a Warmoth body and put a Stewmac P bass neck on it since it will fit their pockets. I would probably go with the cheapest options either way. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Quote
WezV Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 its a good way to go, + P-basses have a low parts count which helps control the cost Quote
Tim37 Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 (edited) IMHO for the kind of money your are talking about you could almost get a carvin bass (they start at 650) and have somthing with a factory warrenty and it will be worth more than what you are looking at doing, if he ever desides to sell. Reinhold Posted April 8, 2010 Author Report Posted April 8, 2010 I looked at the carvin basses and I would end up customizing it so that it comes out a little over my price range, so that leaves me with their 4 string active kit, or a warmoth build, which could be a lot cheaper. Quote
