I know you can take a 500k and go down to 250k with resistors. I kept finding this post on a forum where this guy says yes you can. Can someone confirm this? Thanks ahead of time. Tim37 Posted November 16, 2010 Report Share Posted November 16, 2010 it would be much easier just to put a 500k pot as borge said it could be done but the only reason i could ever see doing surgery on a pot is if its in a vintage guitar and your wanting to keep it as original as possible. the putting a 500k resistor in paralel with a 500k pot does make it a 250k pot but it really throws off the taper.
