electricwood
Here are some pictures of my 4th build, just delivered to my customer. It is a five string bass with a high "C" rather than a low "B". Bolivian rosewood neck, ebony board, Dunlop 6100s, Bartolinis and a quilt maple top/sapele back. The customer and I designed the body and I designed the headstock. I believe it will be my new design for basses and more conservative guitars in the future. Process pictures to come. Comments appreciated. http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/m618/e...ks/IMAG0066.jpg http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/m618/e...ks/IMAG0065.jpg http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/m618/e...ks/IMAG0064.jpg http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/m618/e...ks/IMAG0063.jpg http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/m618/e...ks/IMAG0062.jpg http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/m618/e...ks/IMAG0060.jpg Edited December 3, 2010 by MexicanBreed

Our Souls inc.
Looks great. That upper horn is too thin to match the rest of the design, but it's still quite nice ! so... a high C string. Any reason ?
electricwood
Looks great. That upper horn is too thin to match the rest of the design, but it's still quite nice ! so... a high C string. Any reason ? Customer wants to solo and play high chords and melodies. He was inspired by the 5 string and piccolo basses popular in the 1970s.
MrMuckle
Looks great! What size roundover bit did you use on the top?
electricwood
Looks great! What size roundover bit did you use on the top? The thickness is about 1 1/2" so I used a 3/4" roundover moving slowly in a router table and a lot of handwork. The sapele is much harder than the maple, so a had a few chipout spots on the maple. I also had some issues with burning.
