MrMuckle
You guys who use software to design your templates, do you offset to compensate for glue, finish, etc. when you have two templates that will "mate" such as a neck template and a neck pocket template or pickup cover template and a pickguard template? If so, how much? A 64th off each? Less?
Prostheta
No. I draw all designs to finished wood size on the basis that I prefer thin finishes, and secondly joints should be cut in at exact size with any relief added with minor sanding. Trying to compensate for glue or finish thickness is more likely to cause problems, confusion, pointless additional work and wasted time than anything else.
