Charlie H 72 Posted September 15, 2012 Report Share Posted September 15, 2012 so, i have this wooden inlay on the fretboard of a guitar i working on, and im not sure if i have to put any finish on it, or if i do, what should that finish be, and how should i apply it? avengers63 Posted September 15, 2012 Report Share Posted September 15, 2012 No, you don't have to finish it. Presuming that you oil the board, that will bring out all the color in the inlay as well. That being said, the maple in the middle will eventually discolor from playing. Finishing it will significantly delay this.
