moojiefulagin
Hi! I was wondering how wide the center block of wood on my semihollowbody should be. If I were to make it wide enough to completely enclose the pickups and allow the tuneomatic bridge to be bolted in, it would need to be 3 1/2". That just seemed a little wide, and I was wondering what most people do. Should I just make it around 2" and have the pickup cavities hang out over the sides a little bit? Does anyone have any idea what Im talking about? Thanks a lot !
Drak
Take the widest point (either pkps or TOM, whichever is wider) and add at least 1/2" to each side. That's the way I do it.
moojiefulagin
Sounds like a plan. Thanks!
KeithHowell
What type of tail piece are you using? A stud type needs about 3 1/2 inch block but if you are using a trapeze you can make it narrower. But don't forget the less mass in the block the less sustain.
