dsdesigns
Ive recently installed active pickups in my bass. The signal is very weak when I play the bass. If I lay it flat, the signal becomes strong. If I move the bass from flat to playing position (on its side) it cuts back out again. When I look at the cavity and move the bass, I dont see anything moving. Im guessing there's a weak connection somewhere. Any way of diagnosing it? thanks
rubber314chicken
Could be something as simple as a dry solder joint. Anything that you soldered I'd again with a soldering iron to make sure the joints are all good.
Workingman
Rubber chicken has the most likely cause. One other is if the pots, pups, or some other piece oc electronics are not securly mounted they may shift when the bass is moved andbe shorting on the shielding or the like.
