510 ohm wire

I need to make a wire that has 510 ohms from positive side of a 12 volt battery. By putting a 510 ohm resistor in the middle of the feed wire, will this work?

Yes, a 510 ohm resistor perform the same as a piece of wire with 510 ohms resistance.
