Curtis P Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 I am going to route my body for the pickups when i get back to school next monday, should i mount them flush? oould they be up 1/4 inch? angled or not? I planned on putting the bridge pickup about 1/2 an inch away from bridge for a nice attack, is this too close? Thanks Curtis Quote
GuitarMaestro Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 This depends on how you install them. If you dont use a mounting rig then you won't be able to adjust the PU height after installing them. In that case the routes need to have exactly the depth which results in a PU placement according to the PU's specs. Mounting them flush is no good idea at all. Most companies like DiMarzio have specified how far away from the strings the PU should be placed. Usually that results in a PU which is not flush with the body but about 5mm above the body. Quote

GuitarMaestro Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 Yep do that....they have very detailed specs and drawings of their PU's! Quote

RAI6 Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 If you dont use a mounting rig then you won't be able to adjust the PU height after installing them. Why can't you adjust height on direct-mount pu's? Simply place the spring under the tab... Quote
