SguitarM527 Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 sry if theres already a topic on this but im about to comence on my first ever custom built guitar and in terms of tools, how big must a bandsaw be? Quote
Lex Luthier Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Depends what you want to do. I had the crappiest 8" for a while, but I wanted to do my own resawing, so I got a Delta 14" and just added my own riser today to resaw. Basically, unless you want to resaw, a small bench-top should suit you fine. Quote
SguitarM527 Posted March 15, 2004 Author Report Posted March 15, 2004 ok so a 9" will do fine for a first project guitar? Quote
tdog Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 If you can afford a 14in ....get one. I personally have an 8in, a 14in w/riser, and a 36in which will resaw anything up to 20in....I've never regretted buying the 36. The 8in doesn't have enough power to cut anything accurately but the thinnest of material...."Power is Everything"! Quote
