GregP
By many accounts, the best 'bang for the buck' covered pickups are the Kent Armstrongs. KA pickups I haven't used them, but I've seen them recommended plenty.
VanKirk
Covered humbuckers as in nickel or gold plated nickel? I'd go see brian at universaljems. I'm gonna be gettin the virtual pafs (Dimarzio) from him soon. You can look at his generic brands or get specs on the Dimarzio pickups he carries from Dimarzio. Make sure you buy direct from his website. There are alot of rip-off 'Bill Lawrence' pickups that aren't built by Bill at all. He has no dealers so you have to buy direct which is no problem because their customer service is great.
