Primal Posted May 15, 2004 Report Share Posted May 15, 2004 I just strung my bass up for the first time and I am having trouble with the pickup. It is a Bartolini Music Man style pickup. I have it setup with a single volume and a coil tap switch (both coils or just one coil). When I plugged it up I got EXTREMELY low output from it. I turned the volume and preamp gain all the way up -- the buzz was louder than the bass. I was told that this pickup does not need and active preamp but now I am not so sure.
