Refinishing an lp neck?

Hey can anyone tell me how to sand down a neck to refinish because i didnt want to try sanding it by hand because my hand could make low spots and with a palm sander it would seem like it would ruin it. Someone please help me

Seriously patience and a good set of sanding sponges are the best method. If you try a paint remover it could loosen the glue attaching the fret board and power is an ungly thing to take to any contoured surface simply because it will generally mess up by digging in to far.
