SuckMyKiss
A simple question I guess... The 3-way pickup selector goes to the jack and to the pots... but what piece on the selector goes to what? At this point I've soldered like the links below(but ony with 2 humbuckers, 2 vol, 2 tone and 3 way, not the other strange stuff), but you can't see where on the jack or the switch you should solder. And all I can hear is buzz... how should i solder? www.seymourduncan.ru/new/s/2hb_1vol_3way-w-series_par.jpg www.seymourduncan.ru/new/s/2hb_1vol_3way-w-series_par.jpg And the connection points on the switch, they should connect when the swtich are in the middle, right ? Thanks!
Brian
First thing I would look for if all you have is a buzz is either a cold solder joint on the ground somewhere or a bad ground wire connection to begin with. Which type of three way switch did you use?
Scott Rosenberger
MAke sure you have the wires soldered to the Jack correctly. If they are reversed you get nothing but buzz
SuckMyKiss
My solder points is nothing but a piece of aluminum glued to the inside of the guitar(it doesn't touch anything else than the solder points)... I use a Gibson 3 way selector, a straight one... I guess all I need is a good image of were to the wires goes...
SuckMyKiss
All ground points are connected to the aluminum piece, nothing's lose... Question: Is it better to solder the ground signal on the pot to the bakc of the pot or the way I did, to the aluminum?
Scott Rosenberger
Make sure the Aluminum isnt touching the solder tabs on the pots. I've done that with copper shielding and it took me forever to track it down.. A good way to check this is to take the pots out of the holes in the guitas and plug the guitar into an amp and see if the buzz goes away
