Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum) for neck..

Recommended Posts

I think it takes a real level of dedication to save up enough money to buy a kickass guitar, adn then cut it up in the sake of learing somthing new.

besides a home made guitar is better than a bought guitar any day, even if it dosnt sound as good.

Ok, so see, it's all in what you prefer, I don't think Gibson or Fender have EVER made a comfortable guitar much less one that looks good, PRS has made some impressive looking guitars, but I don't like how they play. Nothing is more cookie cutter than a Strat or Les Paul. I like the Jem's, I think they feel like a players guitar

true, it's all in what you prefer. Some men like men, rather than girls. Some men like ibanez rather than Gibson's or Fender's. Some dig cheesy logo's, some don't. It's all taste

Every time I look at a jap. jum, or whatever they're called, I can see the designers looked rather well at strats. re-shaped the horns a bit, changed the tonewood for cheap basswood, have them manufactured in the far East and painted them pink :D

Hyunsu, you have an impressive amount of projects going on. Are you planning to finish those?

the wood hyunsu has... like the piece those 4 necks are leaning on in his first post, and those in the last pic he posted... it's great to see it all being used so well. i like how he's experimenting with all sorts of shapes and techniques.

hyunsu, you're real dedicated, not only for taking apart a jem, but for using a knife that looks so potentially painful... keep up the good work, and be careful.
