you can make it,but it probably will not last.chances are it will twist beyond playability in a very short time

maybe you could buy a really cheap neck...if you don't have $30 for wood then you are not going to have the money for frets,sanding blocks,truss rod,fingerboard,or anythingelse

It would be better to use a decent wood so that you dont waist your friends time on the freting. (friends dont let friends build poplar necks)

and if you dont have enough money, just rob a liquer store.. I promis it will work :D

Where in central Ohio? If it's Columbus, there's a guy in Grove City selling a bunch of tiger maple on eBay. Might give him a shot. Check out his other auctions. He's got other stuff too. No, I am NOT him.

Might be worth a shot just to contact the guy and see if he's got anything not so figured that he'd sell for real cheap.
