Dragyn Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 Hey Folks; Refinishing a start knockoff and have a brand new wilkenson trem for it. I have tried searching all of the topics but haven't been able to find a link to get dimensions or a download drawing of the trem routing and stud placements. It has the trem hole routed for a vintage trem only with stud or screw holes drilled. ANy one have a link or a site. Thanks in advance. Dragyn Quote
Dragyn Posted June 25, 2004 Author Report Posted June 25, 2004 Hey Litch; This is the one: http://mailboxmusic.zoovy.com/product/GBR_WBK Thanks. Dragyn Quote
MegaData Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 The stud placement is really dependant upon the scale length. (Distance from nut to the saddle) Strats usually use 25 1/2" scale with Strat Trem bridge mounting holes (6) at 24 13/64" What you really need to do is know the scale length and find the appropriate position for the saddles and then find the stud placement. If you can't make a mock-up, making a template of the Wilkinson Trem and checking scale measurements would be the way to go. Quote
Black Mariah Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I'll add that a Wilkinson will fit in a standard Strat trem rout as long as the studs are the right distance apart. Quote
Dragyn Posted June 26, 2004 Author Report Posted June 26, 2004 Thanks for the info folks. The only reason why I was questioning and looking was that at warmoth they show a modified route out for the wilky trem and I was looking for the reason why and the dimensions. Dragyn Quote
Black Mariah Posted June 26, 2004 Report Posted June 26, 2004 Probably clearance issues. I built a guitar from some random parts and used a Wilkinson on it. The body had a standard rout and it worked out just fine. It might not be a straight drop-in on other guitars, but it's not like trying to install a Floyd Rose either. Quote
