moojiefulagin Posted July 24, 2004 Report Posted July 24, 2004 Hi! Ive been looking around a bit, and what ive noticed is that birdseye maple only has birdseyes on two of its faces, so it seems like quartersawn birdseye maple would not show eyes. If this is true, then how are birdseye maple necks usually made? Are they just flatsawn, or do the eyes indeed show when it is quartersawn. Thanks a lot! Quote
Dr. Jabsco Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 ive seen quartersawn planks with eyes. Quote
Scott Rosenberger Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 Birdseye Maple is Flatsawn to show the eyes because the grow through the growth rings of the tree Quote
68 lost souls Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 Maybe theyre flatsawn and turned on there sides making them quarter sawn (I think) or else when the neck is profile it reveals the eyes. Quote
litchfield Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 Fender style necks are usually flatsawn Quote
moojiefulagin Posted July 27, 2004 Author Report Posted July 27, 2004 It sounds like it depends on the board Quote
