  1. well, i just rasped it tonight, it didnt harm it i found, i couldnt get it all, but i got the bulk of it, i just dont have a finer rasp for it, my school will, and i gotta belt sand a bit of the bottom of the headstock, i messed up on my outline trace, so i gotta fix it up a bit Curtis
  2. Thanks Wes Also, I know this may sound kinda dumb, but a rasp wont hurt it right? i am talking about the headstock, where i had to do all the relief cuts, its all jagged in there, i was thinkin rasp it out, but didnt know if it would hurt it, will it or no? Curtis
  3. longer screw, with glue!! man, i feel proud that i thought it all by myself! hah Curtis
  4. ok, so if my fretboard has a tiny bit of overhang, it wont really matter? Tone Wise i meant Curtis
  5. ???? no one? i think i will just make it 22 inches to be safe, and then it should be good, if somethinks it wont work to my benifit, then for love of god PM me or post here!
  6. Thanks decalshopmike, how much do you charge? just outta curiosity? Curtis
  7. no, the washburn is a 22 fret, but i really want a 24, i was on the tutorials a while back and found the calculation sheet for the frets and all for a 24 fret neck, i will edit this post with the link when i find it again but, when you say overhang, do you mean the fingerboard sitting above the body? thats what my wasburn has, and i was going to do that, but if its better for no overhang then i can do that too, just let me know Heres The Link, its near the bottom in grey background Curtis
  8. Ok, I got the neck and headstock cut out today, I made sure to make it 26 inches long, since its a 24 fret neck, and the 24th fret stops at 19.084 inchs i believe, i was going to make the neck 20 inches, or should it be 21 inches? i dont wanna mess it up because i thought i could get 2 necks outta the peice of wod i had, but i cant, so i cant mess up this one, so 20 inches or 21? or something else? need some help here After dinner tonight, i am taking the rasp and removing the relif cut marks from the band saw on the headstock, then sading it down with 60 grit sand paper, then some 120, then a bit more till 220, is this a good method? i was also thinkin shep the back of the neck on the fixed belt sander at school (when i say fixed, its mounted to a stand thats bolted to the floor) will that work? and then do the rest by hand?? i took some mesurments on my Washburn neck and i outlined the 12th fret, how it curves and all, then i was just going to change the roundness at thje nut somewhat, what fits my hand the best i guess, is this a good way to do it? Thanks, i figured i was very specific questions this time Curtis

Thanks for all your guys help! Curtis
  12. stones creed I meant that it was going to be playable in 2 weeks time, i wont play it in 2 weeks time, its going to be painted white and the pinstriped black, but i wont do that till it warms up a bit, so it will be just regular natural finish till it warms up, i dont trust anyone at my school i bring it home every night.... Curtis
  13. ok, how expensive do they usually run for? i tihnk i can find some chrome Grovers for about 35 bucks, but i am not sure if i want a chrome tuner on a white and black guitar

  15. Ok, I got my fingerbaord pretty much done, the body is cut out except for 2 things, the dang teacher doesnt trust me with a bandsaw!! ohh well, anyways, i am going for a fixed bridge, are there different kinda of fixed bridges? it needs to be black to match the guitar, also, black tuners, my biggest concern is the tuners, whats a good kind? i know grover is good, but i think they only come in chrome/silver, whatever its called, the truss rod i am just going to order a truss rod from local guitar store, probaly get ripped off, but ohh well, now, fret wire, where can i get that? will most guitar stores stock/be able to order that? if not then where can i go to find some? my biggest concern is the truss rod and fret wire, my uncle works at a music store company thingy, he got me a free whammy bar if that makes a difference on how much of a discount he can or cant get me on some parts, i really want to get it playable in about 2 weeks if i can get the parts that soon, anyways, to sum it all up, i need advice on a good brand name for a black fixed bridge, black tuners, fret wire (its a 24 fret guitar) preferably maybe a guage, wait a size, and the truss rod, needs to be double expanding, any good ones? i know hot rods are good, any others? maybe not too expensive...... 17. Thats right, the body will be cut out tommorow, the neck should be almost be shaped and fret board should be getting glued on in a couple of days, then i am purchasing the humbuckers from a friend, hopefully, that come with a wah pedal! haha, the pots and knobs will be the last thing, the bridge i shouldnt have a problem getting from my local guitar store, might be a little pricey, ohh well, it will be well worth it, ohh, before i forget, i am using maple fretbaord and a black cherry neck, hopefully black cherry, thats what i hope my neighbour has.... Wish me luck, might be playin it in a matter of 2 weeks! i get 1 hour and 10 min of class time, and then i stay in at lunch for another half hour, s thats alot of time spent on working! Curtis
  18. bravo! i am usin black cherry for my RR5 Curtis
  19. not like ebay, but like i was reading Snork's pst about pickups he needed, and some of the Kent Armstrong ones are 35 bucks, at my local music store a decent humbucker goes for about 80 bucks plus!! i think its the store rippin people off, but i want a set of humbuckers, i hate single coils, and if i can get humbuckers that cheap then i am set, pots are only what? 15 bucks each? Curtis

  21. i am using black cherry, its hopeful that it has a nice tone
  22. What is a good kinda to use? i am cuttin out the body of my guitar tommorow in wood shop, and then i am just takin it home and buildin the neck, he can get me maple or walnut for the neck, i asked him about ebony for the fretbaord, but he cant get that, the only thing i can do is go to the regular lumber yard and get a peice of ebony thats 2 inches thick, about 8 inches wide and 5 feet long for about 65 bucks!! is there any kinda wood besides ebony to use for a finger board? Thanks Curtis
  23.
