  5. so finally well after a year i have actually started work on my 59 V project, i started it last january or 03 and was supposed to be my first guitar but things got complicated with the neck i tried to buy and a short summer so im finally gettin around to it on my spring break and ill prolly finish it over the summer, sum specs: Gibson 59 Flying V body Mahogany back Flamed maple top Black Walnut neck thru prolly 3 or 5 piece 24 frets strings thru no clue bout finishin yet gotta experiment more first so far i have glued the two back pieces together and routed em, neck step is to rout the channel for the neck once i figure out all the dimensions for the neck which will prolly b tonight heres 2 pictures of what i got so far Body Tear out the tear out is alil hard to see the pic aint great and the tear out isnt too bad tho easy fix with a lil 2 part wood putty thats all for now MzI
  6. Heres a picture i just took of a piece of flamed maple i got at my local lumber yard its bout 5' long and 10" wide WOOOD thats the best one i took its up in the attic now cuz its got a slight bow in it so mayb sum more pics when i actually build a guitar outta it MzI

  8. the natural bindin on the strat body, super easy just tape the side that you want for the bindin then stain or dye or whatever one side, take it off and do the other side, by side i mean back and front MzI
  9. its bolivian rosewood, got it from my local lumber yard its was like 9 a bf so it came out to be $30 for the whole thing figured it was alot cheaper then buyin ebony that had blonde streaks for $30 a bf MzI
  10. I got a chunk of rosewood a lil while ago just thought id post sum pics to show everyone thoughts are welcome, i think there is enough in the board to get about 6 fretboards out of it Rose wood 1 rose wood 2 MzI
  11. personally i like my Vs yea i built a strat copy just cuz i had a free neck and it was my first one mainly for a learnin experience but no more strats for me, im thinkin the next couple are prolly gonna b another V for the arsenol and a sg MzI

  14. best way to start imo is to start by gettin tabs of your favorite songs that are easy to play, then once your all set and can play basic stuff then go get lessons, also equipment wise if your just startin out get cheap stuff if you already have a guitar and amp dont go buy more stuff until your sure you wanna keep playing equipment is expensive dont waste your money if your just gonna quit and then sell your stuff afterwards on that guitar its personal opinion go play it if you can if you like then get it MzI
  15. are you putting a pickguard on there, if not get a 12 inch long 1/4 inch bit then drill through the neck pocket from the neck pickup to the bridge then flip the body over and drill from the control cavity to the bridge pickup but be exteremly careful to measure your angle correctly so you dont go through the top and have a hole to deal with MzI

  21. look at jackson and esp and everyone else will say ibanez personally not a fan of em but all those brands basically the super strats you should be able to find something in that price range with cheap pickups that could be replaced to make a decent guitar MzI

  23. for a way to remove the fumes what about an old stove hood like the ones that go above a range to get rid of smoke and such MzI
  24. what about for the air filter cut the hole in the back of the box just big enough for the filter gettin a decent size filter tho and then place some sort of a shroud over a fan that would almost create a vacuum and the fan would suck all the fumes out jsut a thought MzI
  25. i have a mask i worked for my uncle 2 years ago as a union painter so check mark next to that, as for a space i have the garage which doesnt have much dust because the wood workin shop is down in the cellar thanx for the help ill take a look at poly and see what i can find for prices MzI
