Whoa, that was a lot of work for that. But thank you. I guess I never really got a clear look at it, I thought it was something more uncommon. I'll have to look into that tremolo.

Hey everybody. I was browsing videos on Youtube again, and I ran into the video for Ball of Confusion by Love and Rockets: ( ). Anyways, one of the many things that really stuck out when I watched that video was his guitar. I don't think there is ever a very clear view of it, but the guitar is definitely Telecaster-esque. The biggest thing I noticed about it though was the tailpiece. It has a tailpiece similar to the one used by The Kills in the video for Love Is A Deserter (as far as I remember at least). I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this guitar was, or even what type of tailpiece it was, as I love the look of it. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

I only just started listening to them, I guess they're worth buying a CD? I thought it was probably some sort of knock-off brand. I know it isn't the tailpiece I was asking about, I was just saying that that tailpiece in that video is what prompted my interest. Well, if you like the Kills, then check out Suicide (if you don't know them). Oh yeah, another really great band is Algebra Suicide--you can hear a couple of their things on myspace, they were doing this 20 years before the Kills. The Kills do it really well though. The Kills are part of that anti-flash, retro trash guitar thing, like the White Stripes. He also uses an old Hofner. I'll check those guys out. Amusing that the two bands you recommend have the word "Suicide" in them.

Mickguard, thanks a lot for that help. I thought it was meant for an archtop, but I watched a video by the Kills, and the guitarist had some weird set up with the tailpiece, so now I've been searching for something that would look cool. Thakns for the help with the pickups by the way. Video link: While it is true that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, if anybody knows of any tailpieces that would work on a standard sized Tele, post them, and I'll check them out. (Zyonsdream, I've seen that one online, it's looks pretty nice. It's one I'm considering.) And no problem Drak, I'd love to see how it looks on a guitar, so message me whenever you make one with that baby. This is one of my all time favorites click That is so awesome. I never would have guessed how that would look, but it's sick.

I'm planning on making a telecaster, but I want to make it a little unusual. I plan on using more archtop type pickups, and I want to use some sort of tailpiece and a different bridge. Would this tailpiece work? http://www.gypsyjazz.net/prodDetail.php?catid=6&pid=5 If not, Any suggestions on something that would work and that would look good at the same time? Also, what sort of bridge would I use with a tailpiece of this kind? EDIT: I was also wondering about the pickups. I want to use Gretsch style pickups (filtertrons). Any ideas what would be the best for that? IF they have the same look, even better!

Yeah sorry, I'm having a hard time wording it. Does anybody have a template of the pattern of the bevel on an SG?

So I was asking about making the bevels on the side of an SG a while back, and someone said that I should make a line an inch in, and a line an inch down, and connect the lines using spokeshaves or the like. My only question is this: Since the SG side is curved, and the bevel is not straght but curved, is there any easy way to make the mark curve and stay consistently 1 inch in? Is there any easier way to make that bevel?

Thanks to you all. I'm finishing it in a solid color, so grain color is not an issue either. I'm probably going to finish it in baby blue, with a pearloid pickguard, but I'm somewhat debating a very very pale pink color instead of the blue. Any ideas? And I still have to ask, it wouldn't be off-balance at all would it?

Honestly, there is nothing wrong with it. But this project keeps getting put off as I have to do it with someone else, and he already has a piece of poplar that is the perfect size for a blank, so we just want to get the show on the road and do it, unless there is something wrong with that combination. Is there?

I'm building an SG Jr., and I was wondering... Is a poplar body with a mahogany neck and okay combination? Will poplar sound okay, and will it be off-balance at all? Thank you in advance.

Okay, so I'm hooked. I haven't even started working on my first guitar, and I've started planning for the next one. I'm going to have to take a break after these two! Anyways, I was wondering what size of would you would use to put together a multi-wood neckthrough neck. I'm going to try and use a tele body, but round off the sides. I want to use some light colored wood for the body, and do some kind of a transparent finish, maybe a blue or a red, with the neck having maple in the middle, some purpleheart on either side, just a little slice, and then some dark colored wood for the outside of the neck, to contrast the light body and middle of the neck. I was wondering if you could help me out with the wood question, and was wondering if you had any feedback on the plan so far. Thanks, Clever Pun

Headstock Veneer After Completion?

Well I haven't even started the guitar yet. I can make the original headstock thinner in order to make room for the veneer later on, or I could do something. But the inlay is costing more than I pay for right now, so I need to wait a while on that, but I want to get the guitar over with as soon as possible, and I don't want to keep the whole project waiting just because of a small addition I want to make. Any suggestions on how to get it to work? -

I was wondering, how does it work if you add a headstock veneer after you have originally finished the guitar headstock? I'm thinking of adding an inlay to a headstock, but the neck is glued, so I was wondering if I could send a veneer to the inlay artist and then glue it on to the guitar later? Would this work?

They really do seem great. Maybe I'll try them out once I really get into building, but for right now, they're too pricey. Especially now that I've decided I want to try an inlay from cSuttle (Those are expensive!). Anyways, I would love to hear them if you have a sound sample you could send me. Anyways, I have an update on Bare Knuckles white pickups. After speaking with their customer service, I know this: They do not stock white dogears, but white soapbar covers are available. If anybody is interested, all you have to do is make an indication in the notes section when you place an order for standard cream covers from their site.

i never noticed they did white ones before, just checked the shop and there they are: http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/shop/p...;products_id=99 unfortunately they only have the cream and black covers listed in the accessories section but it might be worth giving Tim a call, he is generally very helpfull. Of course you could always buy a set of BKP-90's with the white covers Yeah. I sent him a message and he said that they weren't available in white in dogear format. Then I sent him one about normal P-90s, and he didn't respond. And Bare Knuckles are so expensive compared to these P-90s Black Dog introduced me to.
