  1. I usually work in ''model'' (you can find it at the bottom of the page It is weird working in layout mode, for me it is...I don't know...
  2. OK XD This is the situation: This is an old guitar, it is urgent (i really don't know did I say it right, my English is not excellent) because he wants it to be finisher ASAP, so I need to know which finish will cure fastest. Original finish is polyurethane, so I will most likely go with it. It is not my first finish job, I know some stuff already, and it is not some expensive and that stuff guitar either The finish is worn of (I think that's the way to say it xD), and strings were rubbing against bare maple, so it was pretty bad on some places. I've got some pics (taken with mobile phone so they are not great): click on pictures to view in bigger resolution. victim: before: close up: after: close up: So, polyurethane cures faster than nitro? I know it can be coated much thicker, and nitro can't, so it will probably be my final choice, what do you think?
  3. So how long will nitro last? It will not be just one coat, there will be several, what is estimate time? He doesn't play like an animal
  4. My friend brought me his neck (squier strat. standard), maple back and fingerboard. I suppose the finish on fingerboard is worn, so it looks pretty vintage now, you know. The color on that spots is grey-green, so I need an advice. I suppose the finish is taken of, I will first sand it to remove discoloration, and then go over with finish. If I put thin coat of Nitro on it, will it again become like this or what? It is pretty urgent, so help please...I don't have any pics right now, but it looks like all other vintage guitar necks. Thanks
  5. Yes, you can also draw a square and enter dimensions 20x20, print it 1:1, and see if that is 20cm or 20mm.
  6. That is good, you can draw it anything you want, and it will still be good
  7. I think he said he has some own drawings, which I considered that he made up a guitar shape, so you can't actually know any of other measurments.
  8. http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/script...chconvert.shtml - inch, cm, feet converter, cool thing! Your measure is this: 2 inch and 3/16 of inch, that is 2.1875 inch, that is 5.56 cm. Now for resizing, in autocad you have a toolbar that starts with eraser, I think it's called ''modify''. 8th tool is pictured as 2 squares, one small one big. That is scale tool, and it is used to resize drawings. You need to know some basic dimensions, neck pocket would be ideal. You can enter how much is the final result bigger than original and such stuff, check it out, try and you will succeed. If you run onto a problem, just ask
  9. Steam is used to separate fingerboards from necks, don't you think it will maybe ruin the joint?
  10. Maybe do some laminate back, and put harder wood (maple, curly?) in the middle, so it supports ferrules.
  11. When you draw a guitar shape in autocad, you need to make it right dimensions, you need to know dimensions of your bridge, neck and stuff. If you didn't do that, you just scale it to make it right dimensions. W When you want to print it 1:1, just select that option in print menu (that is if you have big printer that can accept A0 size paper. If not so, you can draw 4 rectangles across the body shape, so it fits in them four. When you print, select 1:1 option, and take ''window'' command, and then select first rectangle, print it, select second one and do all four. Dimensions of rectangles should be 210*297mm (if your printer is normal, A4 size) I hope I've helped someone, and sorry for my not so good English.
  12. I will just go with micromesh things, it will do the thing. thanks
  13. So, when I build a guitar from scratch, I just need to sand it with some high gradation, and that's it?
  14. I though it needs to be wiped with some lemon oil (I don't remember exactly...)
  15. Yes, I meant to just sand it with like 1200 grit and leave it like that, so it will be ok?
  16. Can I use clear nitro and just leave it unpolished?
  17. There are eastern, western, rock, soft, hard, and many other types of maple. What is the difference?
  18. Does your fretboard need to be finished? It is rosewood, and it needs to be covered with something, which someone could tell me it is...
  19. How to do finish on maple necks (i am talking about the back of the neck) like Ibanez do, so it's not shiny like on fenders, it has to be mat. What finish they use? Thanks.
