  1. The only thing I see wrong is that the bridge seems to be about 3-4mm to far to the bass side. Other than that, it looks terrific! What kind of finish on the body, tung oil? And next time make your own neck! Great bass.
  2. Tru-oil is gun stock finish. You should be able to go to your nearest gun dealer and buy some. It's not so much an oil finish as it is a varnish. I really like it. I know Ernie Ball uses it on their guitar necks.
  3. I am loving tru-oil. It is is so easy to use and it only takes 2 hours to dry. Builds up pretty quickly, too.
  4. Now there's something. Anyone want to attempt a guitar made out of marble?
  5. Very impressive indeed. I dig the little sculpting by the higher frets.
  6. Yea, I know. I guess I just get used to her being there all the time so I kind of forget on occasion.
  7. Okay, time for another update. I've been finishing my bass with Tru-Oil over the past week or so. I think it has about 7 coats on it. Please disregard the very attractive poster right beside my bass http://img34.photobucket.com/albums/v104/i...hing/front3.jpg http://img34.photobucket.com/albums/v104/i...hing/front2.jpg http://img34.photobucket.com/albums/v104/i...shing/neck1.jpg http://img34.photobucket.com/albums/v104/i...shing/back1.jpg http://img34.photobucket.com/albums/v104/i...shing/neck3.jpg http://img34.photobucket.com/albums/v104/i...g/headstock.jpg Tell me what you think.
  8. Seems like the only people willing to test it for you are in Europe. I would test one for you, but sadly I am a bass player and haven't saved up enough money for a guitar yet. Now, if you make a jazz bass style pickup, I would gladly help ya
  9. What if you were to scuff the area inside of the dent and fill it with very slow cure epoxy. Then just sand smooth and polish? I don't know anything about this by the way, just curious.
  10. I personally don't like the no-heel designs. But maybe thats because that is the design on my POS Rogue.
  11. Same way you would with a fretted one, only you "fret" the note at the spot where the fret should be instead of behind it.
  12. What kind of bad experience have you had? I have only had one bad set and emailed them and they sent me a new set right out. Their new Black Beauties are excellent, by the way.
  13. A D-Tuna or a Hipshot (I think) E-string tuning machine.
  14. I just strung my bass up for the first time and I am having trouble with the pickup. It is a Bartolini Music Man style pickup. I have it setup with a single volume and a coil tap switch (both coils or just one coil). When I plugged it up I got EXTREMELY low output from it. I turned the volume and preamp gain all the way up -- the buzz was louder than the bass. I was told that this pickup does not need and active preamp but now I am not so sure. Any help would be appreciated!
  15. Wow, really cool body design. Like feylya said, I think it would look better if the cutout on the rear was basically turned around and placed on the lower part of the body. That way you could use it as a place for your input jack. Also, in my opinion, the lower bout should either be thicker (like you said), or I think it would even look cool if it were shorter. Excellent design though, don't get me wrong.
  16. http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.php?showtopic=7563 Only problem is that the bridge costs around $4000. Maybe if you build on, the prices will lower since they would then have competition!
  17. That was on MIMF. I think it was called the dragonfly bass.
  18. True. Bigbies can be pretty expensive I hear. Although I may be wrong. Haven't shopped around for 'em.
