  1. A guy I used to jam with did that on stage once, and it was AWESOME!!! He got it on video tape and everything...a beautiful thing on stage I think. I am afraid to try it on my guitar, even though I have a locking strap, just for that reason, that I'm afraid it will not hold, but if it is executed correctly, it's a beautiful thing:)
  2. Out of curiosity...I always thought of experimenting with dice or something like that as knobs....any thoughts on that?
  3. I don't know if I've just been searching in the wrong places or what, but I have a Teisco del Rey that I'm rebuilding, and I'm curioius...does anyone have any information about the Teisco company? I have NO information on this guitar...no idea anything about it. Can anyone help?
  4. I have a hard time with that....I have played guitar for about 4-5 years now, and I can't hear a whole lot of difference in sound on guitars...it's so weird. It makes me feel so inferior lol...
  5. Some expensive guitars don't have a truss rod either...My dad had a guitar hand built for me from scratch, has duncan pickups, a nice washburn bridge, and a lot of other nice features...he spent 2500 dollars on having it built...no truss rod. The neck goes all the way through the body, but yeah no truss rod(at least no place to adjust it lol)
  6. There are 2 very small screws in the head...should I pull them out or how could I cover them or hide them?
  7. I guess actually the pic would be in the Solid Body forum(in a link to a website)
  8. Ok I just looked at a post where you were showing how to get Joe Perry's Les Paul finish....and you impressed me with your ability to get that finish and all...so I have a question for you. If you will look back a few posts, I posted something about a Teisco del Rey....and I am not one that knows very much about wood, but I'm having a lot of fun with this guitar so far, but if you could, would you look back to it and give me your input as to what kind of finish would look good on it? I'm no where NEAR finishing it yet, I'm actually still sanding it down;) But I was going to just stick with the natural wood with some black around the edges, but I would REALLY appreciate your opinion. Jarrid Davis
  9. I guess I'm the only one that plays one...lol
  10. Ok, I found Tung Oil, and am considering trying that, but any suggestions on something else that would look cool as to finish or painting, etc...please leave me all the suggestions you can think of lol. http://www.imageshack.us/my.php?loc=files1...age=Teisco2.jpg Thanks!!! Jarrid
  11. Ok, I recently posted a question about my Teisco del Ray, and mainly as to whether or not the neck could be salvaged. I know I COULD buy a new neck, but I really would like to try and keep the original one...for some reason? Teisco del Ray pictures Also, any suggestions on what I can do to make this a good looking guitar, please feel free to offer them. Jarrid Davis
  12. Ok I just read something in the help section that the administrator has to activate the "Upload Files" button or whatever for me to post the pictures of my Teisco on here. How would I go about that?
  13. But how do I put pictures in here? In the forum itself? I was asking earlier about my Teisco and I finally got some pics on here of it, and I want to put them in here...I saw other people do it, and I can't figure out how to do it myself....I'm dumb:(
  14. Someone up there said that every beginner guitarist plays Iommi....I guess I'm just weird lol;) I started out trying to play Rhoads and Hammett and the Youngs, and then I moved to SRV. Who knows? I still consider myself a beginner, considering the going on 6 years I've put into playing guitar is nothing compared to the 50 years some people put into it.
  15. I will try to get a picture of it on here. I don't have a digital camera, though.
  16. I recently purchased the Peavey Transfex Pro 212, and am confused as to how to use it!!! I can go through the effects fine and stuff, but I'm used to just using analog effect pedals, and so it confuses me. Most of the preset effects on it suck, so can anyone who has one give me any pointers? Maybe a few effects that they have that have good sound? I enjoy playing several styles, from blues to metal, so if anyone has some cool sounds that they have programmed in, please share how to get that sound with me!! And especially specific band/artists sounds. I know a lot of that is done in studios, but if there is anyone with a Transfex Pro 212 that can share with me, please do! Jarrid
  17. Sethmetal, Yes, I like my guitars extra crispy...doesn't everyone?
  18. Alright I'll try that. The veggie oil actually gave it a nice shine--surprisingly lol;) But you can also sort of feel the oil when you rub your hand across the wood(man that sounds perverted..jk). Where would I get Tung Oil? From a hardware store? Also, the guitar was originally a sunburst finish, so i sanded it down to the wood except for on the edges. I sanded the top of the body and the bottom of the body all the way down, and then around the edge i left it all black and it has a black pickguard so I thought that had a neat look. The black, however, needs touched up so would just a little black touch up paint stand out on it? Or would it be best to sand it all off and paint the black on again? (By the edges, I mean if you're holding the guitar in "playing position", it would be the top and go all the way around the guitar). And also, I hand sanded the wood starting with some really rough paper and ending on 600, and i sanded it with the 600 for a looooooong time, but there are still a few scratches that you can see when the light glares on it, so do you think I just didn't sand it enough? And there is also a spot on the back where I think i sanded too vigorously or something and it caused what looks like a burn mark, so would I just need to sand that out or would the finish cover that up?
  19. I have a body that a friend of mine cut out of oak and painted white. It is a neat looking body, very original, but I was curious as to what kind of sound I would get out of oak and about benefits/drawbacks to using oak. I guess I really want to know is it worth using to build a guitar?
  20. I purchased an older model Teisco Del Ray about 4 or 5 years ago, and originally purchased it for 10 dollars so that I could smash it on stage(yeah, stupid me). I decided against that, but rather decided to make it into a little nicer guitar. The previous owner did a number on the head and completely broke it off(nasty break). He "glued" it back and then put a bolt through it to secure it even more, but it looks HORRIBLE. Is there anything I can do with this neck? Or would you suggest I just get a completely new neck? I kind of wanted to keep the original, but I'm not sure if that is possible or not because of the shape that it's in. Anyway, not sure if I explained it very thoroughly so please ask questions and any advice is greatly appreciated! Jarrid
  21. I purchased an older model Teisco Del Ray. I originally bought it because I was stupid and thought it would be a cool guitar to smash on stage(how silly of me to want to destroy a perfectly good guitar lol). I spent 10 dollars on the guitar from a friend of mine who had no need for it. I ended up stripping off the paint, because it had a really bad paint job. I don't have any wood finish, but I was told a long time ago that to seal the wood you CAN use vegetable oil. Is that correct? It was a shop teacher that told me. And also, will this vegetable oil give it a finished look? I really like just the wood grain on this guitar. Anyway, would you suggest I go and purchase wood finish or sealer or a stain? I've had this guitar for about 4 or 5 years and finally decided to do something with it. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
