  1. odd the grain on my zebrano turns satin after sanding.
  2. if used it for a fretboard, it came out ok (wood wise (apretty big bomb construction wise)), but i had several concerns. 1. The fine brown dust gets everywhere and takes forever to get out, most importatntly it clogs up and can dull the saw you are using to cut it wirh 2. Even though it is actually denser and "stronger" then maple, it is much more brittle, I used some offcut as a clamping caul and the direct pressure from a small (like 1.5" c clamp) actually broke it clear into 2 pieces. In my ex[perinece ( I actually broke several zebrano cauls) The breaks where actually along the grain line (almost dead on)
  3. the fact that you need to hit it makes it seem like there is a bad solder joint, maybe not at the input jack but somewhere on the board, i recomend you inspect the whole board for broken solder joints
  4. i had a similiar cutting out deal hapening on a crate that i got used, it just cut the signal and it would work sporatically if you jiggle the input cord, me and my granpa opened it up and checked all the solder joints, and we found that one of the solder joints on the jack was de-soldered, luckily even though it was surface mounted it was on a giant island so there was no chance of gettting on other smd parts. my advice is to check the solder joints, and all screwed on contacts. as a preliminary step before giving out big bucks for what might have been a simple repair
  5. stew mac has pickup kits, but it doesnt come with the wire nor the magnet, but it comes with bobbins and magnetic polepieces, http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_p...kups:_Kits.html stew mac also sells pickup wire, but you should locate the magents elsewhere (like ampge)
  6. and please please please please please don't spell like your the age of 7 and high on sugar, it would really help raise your maturity meter.
  7. there are shorter scale six string basses, adn even one made by fender ( i beleive it was a bass 6) which was basically a long scale guitar (30") tuned down an octave
  8. quoted for effect (to the person above me) to become the umpteenth person that says this. The only reason tube amps "sound" louder then a ss amp at the same wattage, is because tubes can be clipped more and still sound resonably clean (i.e. before we call it distortion), whereas clipped transistors sound horrible rather quickly, therefore we can't load the ss amp as much before it starts to sound bad, and therefore it appears to be not as "loud" as a comparable tube amp
  9. it is, its a synth guitar that lights up with chord positions and note positions. Now if only it can use regular MIDI files or maybe guitar pro files instead of only their files, i would look inot buying it, but since it doesnt id rather not. its a good tinker toy but id rather get a real guitar, though its a nice alternative if your caluses just got ripped off
  10. What tone pot cuts off the lows? Other than an active preamp or fairly rare tone control with a highpass filter like a Fender TBX, this shouldn't happen. read
  11. aw jeez another dave! you guys are opping out by the dozen. anyway questions are fine, just be sure to use the search function before you post a question, as it might have been already answered in detail in a previous thread so far the guitar is looking great, and im looking forward to how its going to turn out
  12. it would sound fine, with the exact sound produced by the pickup going to the amp, the loudness would be like the guitar turned to 10 on the volume pot (no resistance), as for the tone, it wouldnt cut off the highs (like tone pot on 0) or cut off the lows (tyone pot on 5-10) so it would sound more or less like the acoustic sound.
  13. you could install a permanent pedal inside the chasis and drill a few more holes for the controls up front? and then route the input jack to the distortion box, and then to the input of the amp. OR what drak said (much better idea)
  14. iwhat i was saying is that you can use a banjo tuner, since the are straight (like tuning pegs) but are mechanized so that would work as the center tuner, or angle the knobs of a normal tuning machine up into that hole you have positioned. only problem is that banjo tuning pegs have a much lower ratio (i.e. less turns for one full revolution of the tunning post), so it could get akward when you string up the normal strings with 100 or so turns, but the center one with like 20 turns.
  15. 50 days... jeez howd you get that, i remember you getting 3 weeks for the acrylic fiasco, but where the other days come from.
  16. dont be a dick camcool, otherwise, it seems fine electronics wise, if you can fit the pickups there, also the 6 knobs will be a pain in the butt to position on the guitar, but it will work, and in the future a schematic would be much nicer p.s. on the drawing it says, 3 singlew coil pickups-one under each string, but I see 6 single coil pups. p.p.s. is there any particular reason you want to to do this?
  17. maybe for the tuners, put three on each side, and then one banjo style tuner in the center, or a regular tuner with the knob pointing up, it'll look classy
  18. D'OH! i didnt think it was posted before, I had known about it for a few months, but finally found a mirror, still good stuff though. the thing i dont like about valve is that they are deceiving gamers with half life 2 bototm line is that it doesnt exist, they just keep pushing back the release date untill people forget about it, much like that duke nukem game
  19. Lex , you said here is the site, but where is it
  20. its Buzz Feiten and heres a nice faq about it http://www1.korksoft.com/~schem/faq/buzz_feiten_tuning.pdf and http://www.megatar.com/english/Library/Peo...ten/feiten.html
  21. 6' 1" and 240 pounds, im not "large" im just big (probably why im into wrestling), (i.e. no bulging belly or the sorts) and i usually get 2XL. oh and i wear 36 (or 38 depends on the brand) by 34. i hate the levis jeans, they are just too tight for me, latley ive been getting only ecko jeans since they fit me quite nicely. And goodwill is the place to be if your doing a low budget theatre presentation, someones old suit, or black shoes can be your english gentlemans fine suit.
  22. turbo cad isnt that hard to get used to and figute out. it took me a whole 1/2 an hour to get used to it and get my guitar drawing to full speed. also i find 3d studio max to be harder (and way more expensive), though if you want to give it a try, discreet (the company that makes it) has a freeware downgraded (i beleive some of the advanced modifiers are removed, as are the animation tools, leav ing you only modeiling), called gmax which you can get online for free instead of paying the 3000 or so dollars for 3dsm
  23. its not warez, i got the disk from my friend (and not off kazaa) anyway, if monkey wants it, its only 99cents plus double post. and editing my quote.
  24. i think hes just listing the extra parts he has lying around, thoguh ive never seen a 350 gigabyte hardrive before oh and its not only windows, most older mother boards (like for p1 and pefore), cant recognize hardrives that big, for the newer ones i beleive the cutoff was like 32.8 gb the main reason im keeping my computer around is because it has that big old slots (older then pci), so i can plug in my scsi adapter and use my film scanner to scan old photos in. oh, and use my gynormous sounblaster 16 (its frikkin huge!)
