  1. yeah solid color or a burst so a black on the outside, and a different color of your choice inside. i think you should stain it for the inside so it shows the grain
  2. how's the rustoleum specialty lacquer? http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=109 I bought a few cans for $3.97, seemed like a reasonable price. they shouldn't be all that bad, right?
  3. I need 7 for the top and 7 for the bottom.... no one sells these individually! they're all in sixes, and I need some for my 7-string! if anyone has any I'll take some.... thanks.
  4. you can get a used musicman, take the neck off, and then sell the parts individually. musicman electronics and bodies seem to be up pretty rarely on ebay, they might fetch you pretty penny too
  5. ? i read two weeks in another thread, but the can indicates far less than that....
  6. i'm guessing it involves green paint, black paint, and a sheet of cloth.
  7. well, you can start by reading all the tutorials on the projectguitar.com website
  8. i bet i can just snap it right off. and it'll make a good home for a spider. cool paint job though!
  9. so I'm thinking about NOT sending it back. i looked at the dent again and it's really really shallow. it will probably disappear when I sand the sealer down and the pickup ring will cover it. but when i called they said go ahead and send the body back (just the body) and they'll send me a new body. they gave me their UPS account number to use so it's free to send it back. HOWEVER, when they receive the body they're gonna contact Saga about it to see if THEY can get a refund for the body, and if they can't, they'll probably charge my credit card again. not to mention it's a shipping error so there's no chance in hell Saga's gonna refund them the money. what should i do........
  10. i would say the same if it's a play wear, but this chip is a result of my own clumsiness.
  11. wow. freaking sweet. since this is my first kit guitar, i'll practice on the saga first before moving up.
  12. i don't see a neck plate for the grizzly kits. are they set-neck???
  13. there's a dent on the front right where the bridge pickup route is - the sealer dented and cracked but no chunks are missing. there's also a long crack in the sealer connecting the two pickup cavities. totally lame. when i received it, the guitar was shifted all the way to one side of the box and I can clearly see where something heavy came down on the top of the box; there's a rip. I was thinking it doesn't matter since i'll take the sealer off and stain it anyway, but I figured, the dent probably went through the flame maple veneer too. so if I sanded it down to the sealer, either there will be a stop when I can't reach (because the veneer sunk in), or I will sand deep to reach that sunken area and sand right through the veneer. it sucks how the maple cap isn't flamed. I called Torres today, and they said they can send me a new one at no cost but I will have to send it back at my expenses. it's not their fault, but I think they could've double boxed it or something. so what should I do? I should probably send it back and get my money's worth, right? or should I go ahead and sand down to the veneer? thanks
  14. well, since it bumped into a the edge of a tune-o-matic bridge, it's not a big sink, but a small deep trench-like dent. I'm gonna try applying a single drop of polyurethane on it and wiping of the excess so it fills the "trench"
  15. stained. http://bloodyvelvet.com/pics/mh400nt.jpg in the back corner. god i'm still pissed.
  16. i'm so pissed. I was done practicing so I went to my guitar stand to put it down, and as I was putting it down, it hit the bridge of the guitar right next to it, and it dinged a corner. the poly finish cracked and chipped off, but no wood is exposed. how do I hide this? I treat all my guitars like babies, a small dent REALLY pisses me off. I care about the condition of my guitars to the extent that if they get beat up, I sell them and get a new one. would filling it with polyurethane and sanding it down be good?
  17. God knows I have so many, but here's my top 10 in no particular order. 1. Stevie Ray Vaughan 2. Jimi Hendrix 3. Larry Carlton 4. Eric Johnson 5. Robben Ford 6. Danny Gatton 7. Wes Montgomery 8. Duke Robillard 9. Roy Buchanan 10. Grant Green you don't like paul gilbert?
  18. Wes Borland of Limp Bizkit made me pick up the guitar around 6 years ago. that was when i was an angry teenager playing nu-metal. now, i' really love Jeff Loomis's works with Nevermore. such an awesome guitarist.
  19. like this? i'm assuming it's thin black coat -> white coat -> sand?? or black stain -> white coat -> sand? ???
  20. for some reason I avoid basswood like a plague. I know many expensive guitar has them, but when I see a guitar with a basswood body, a part of my brain screams "CHEAP!!!" for this reason I avoid most Ibanez guitars and many bodies on eBay. I haven't found out why I've come to dislike basswood so much. I don't know if it's just me, or if it's a common thing. many bodies on eBay are basswood, and avoiding it just limits my options so much. can someone come up with an explanation? and perhaps pursuade me another direction? thanks
