  1. I hope you're kidding. 1 truss rod is plenty enough for an 8 string neck.
  2. I'll give a shot of the body finished.
  3. His brother and I will be helping him along the way, as well as another luthier. If he ever gets stuck either of us three will help him out. Don't worry about it.
  4. is he still doing that run of 8 string customs? Im looking forward to seeing a few of them Hes a member of this forum, A good guy that was doing some custom sloting of fretboards I'm almost done my 8 string.. Just have to rout a little bit more on the neck pocket, and drill some holes to get the neck on there. Then I can dress the frets and it's done.
  5. wow matt, I'm just about to start a build VERY similar to yours. 6 string baritone, 27" scale.. And this shape.
  6. AHH, That thing is CRAZY. What is the neck made of?
  7. Turned out great Matt. Love the color of the purpleheart.
  8. Looks great Kenny. I just don't like how big the bottom bouts are compared to the rest of the body. But that's just my opinion. Rest of it looks great.
  9. You got me excited when I saw that you posted last.. no more posts until you have pictures!
  10. Also Matt, you can change your sig now! You're not a serial unfinisher! pics now?
  11. What do you think, Diablo swirl, or oil finish.. Also drilled the ferrules today.. http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p77/JTDG/RG8/IMG00366.jpg
  12. Neck, http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa98/lo...G8/IMG00334.jpg FB, http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa98/lo...G8/IMG00333.jpg Rough control cavity/string thru holes, http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa98/lo...G8/IMG00360.jpg I'm upset about the ONE hole that is not in line with the others.. I moved the body around to drill the hole properly, and BAM; out of line.. Oh well, hopefully I can make it look better with the ferrules tomorrow. output jack, http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa98/lo...G8/IMG00358.jpg bridge shot, http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa98/lo...G8/IMG00357.jpg overall shot, The bridge is screwed on and everything, I just have to drill holes for the ferrules on the back (which I will probably do tomorrow). Also the neck and FB have been oiled 3 times in those pictures, and that's the most they're going to be oiled..
  13. that looks really great. Reminds me of the ESP MH-1000 Looking forward to this guitar!
  14. Yeah, I've already done the dots, and I'm going to finish the fretting before I glue on the wings and also before I carve the neck. I just bought the Stew-Mac fret caul and I'm gonna press them in in my drill press, I'm looking forward to that. Yeah, that fret press is very useful Good luck on the fretting!
  15. Looking really good, hoping to see more progress on this thing! oh yeah and if you haven't glued on the wings I suggest doing the side dots right away, and maybe even fretting.. With my neck-thru build I fretted and did the side dots after gluing it together. Made the last 10 frets really hard to do..
  16. Looks great so far! Those shots of the hardware look great too, what colour are you painting/staining this?
  17. Thanks, and as I said before the top of the headstock will have a swirl on it. To cover up the ugly glue line.
  18. Neck oiled, this is a shot of the third coat, while it was wet.. I'll get some dry ones later as well.
  19. yeaah, long time no update.. But I got my bridge (finally, only took 4 months >:C) and I got some rasps and a spokeshave so I can do some work on the neck at home. bridge, http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa98/lo...G8/IMG00306.jpg mockup,
  20. I just realized this is going to have a carve top, that should look really cool with that shape.
  21. That's a sweet body shape! And the grain direction on the wings look nice, good work so far!
